The Fellowship Program is a competitively-awarded year-long
program which supports SF State faculty as they develop proposals for
behavioral research on health disparities. Our program philosophy
emphasizes interaction, collaboration, and mutual support. By the
end of the year, fellows are expected to produce either a fundable
proposal of her or his own, or a collaborative proposal with a
mentor.
Fellowship Benefits
Financial Support: One semester of half-time reimbursed release from
teaching and limited summer salary support.
Technical Support: Consultation with RIMI2 technical support staff on
grant proposal development.
Facilities: A private office with phone and computing equipment at
the RIMI2 grant-writing facility at Pacific Plaza for one full year.
Mentorship: Support for a research mentor ($10,000 stipend per
year), normally a non-SF State faculty member at a Research 1 institution, who
has received grant awards in fields related to health disparities
research.
Other: Opportunities to participate in UCSF and UCB post-doctoral
seminars.
Eligibility
Applicants must be tenured or tenure-track SF State faculty. It is
anticipated that candidates will have become familiar with the
substance and methods of behavioral research on health disparities
through participation in the Faculty Seminar Series on Health
Disparities, although such participation is not required.
Application
Fellows for 2008 have been selected.
Awards
We expect to grant three awards per year.
