Mentorship Program

The Fellow Mentorship Program matches RIMI2 Fellows with accomplished researchers as grant writing mentors. The mentors will provide topic-specific direction to the fellow and help formulate specific aims relevant to the background and significance of innovative research ideas, with a goal of preparing fellows to formulate, propose, and succeed in obtaining extramural funding for significant behavioral research on health disparities.

Faculty will identify their mentors at the time of application to the fellowship program.  Proposed mentors should be non-SF State faculty at Research 1 institutions, who has received grant awards in fields related to health disparities research.   Mentors may be identified in consultation with the RIMI2 Program Director. The selection and matching of mentors with fellows should be based on several considerations, foremost among which are a good fit between the skills and interests of the fellow and those of the mentor, and the mutual acceptability of the prospective mentor-fellow relationship. Each proposed relationship will be reviewed by the Program Director through discussions with both parties.
