    Monique Nakagawa

    Research Associate, Public Research Institute

     

    Raised in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley district, Monique Nakagawa’s interests lie the interactions of poverty, environment, and quality of life; neighborhood knowledge; community indicators; and participatory research. Prior to joining PRI in 2000, Monique worked for five years with low-income and minority communities on grassroots community development in San Francisco’s Chinatown and Sixth Street Corridor, where she was also an active member of the South of Market Problem Solving Council, a community-based participatory decision-making body. She also has many years of involvement with cooperatives and collectives.
